Diabetic Retinopathy Network (DR-NET) LINKS Workshop

Location: Tsogo Sun Elangeni Maharani

Organiser: Commonwealth Eye Health Consortium and funded by The Queen Elizabeth Diamond Jubilee Trust.

Description: To reduce avoidable blindness, a network of 18 eye care institutions in 13 low-middle-income countries was established with those who are matched with a UK partner within the VISION 2020 LINKS Programme with a 5-year target, to prevent a minimum of 37,500 years of blindness by treating at least 3,750 more patients – 1 more/week per site, assuming that each person lives an average of 10 years after treatment.
This workshop seeks to build on work done at the London workshop in October 2014 and to launch a DR Toolkit to assist participating countries to develop a National Framework for the Management of DR, promote the development of Good Practice Guidelines for DR & provide Guidance for Planning and Implementing DR services
