Title: Lessons learned from a school-based refractive error screening program in Jakarta, Indonesia

Brief Overview: From 2013 to 2015, HKI partnered with the Provincial Department of Education of Jakarta to screen more than 90,000 students aged 11-15 in public schools in Jakarta for refractive error. Nearly 30% of the students screened had refractive error, and most of these students either never had glasses or had glasses that were not appropriate. This demonstrates the burden of refractive error among students aged 11-15 in Jakarta, Indonesia and the screening by the school health teachers to be an effective approach to screening for Refractive Error.
