Continuing Professional Development at 10GA

CPD and CET

The IAPB’s 10th General Assembly (10GA) in Durban will include opportunities for delegates to earn Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points valid for optometry and ophthalmology professionals in the United Kingdom and South Africa.

UK’s Continuing Education and Training (CET) in Optometry
12 courses have been approved by the Global Optical Council for UK-registered optometrists, therapeutic optometrists and dispensing opticians covering a variety of competencies. Relevant professionals will be able to gain up to a maximum of 8 CET points. See the list of accredited courses for optometry in the UK here.

South Africa’s Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in Optometry
In collaboration with the South African Optometry Association (SAOA) and the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Department of Optometry, 10GA will offer South African optometrists the opportunity to earn up to 13 Continuing Education Units (CEU), including 1 for ethics. South Africa’s Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in Ophthalmology
In collaboration with the College of Ophthalmology of Eastern Central and Southern Africa (COECSA) and the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Department of Ophthalmology, 10GA will offer South African ophthalmologists the opportunity to earn up to 7 Continuing Education Units (CEU). Ophthalmologists from other African countries may be able to use 10GA CPD points in their own jurisdictions, check with your national professional association for the process.
